
Introduction
Integrated operations (IO) is not a term that is possible to define in a strict sense. It carries a lot of “fluid” meaning that encompasses a diversity of needs and agendas, not least because at the current time it aims at how future operations will look like. Hence, at least for the time being, it is a pragmatically functional “buzzword” that serves as a gravity point for many different expectations, question and discourses. One of the fundamental discourses in that respect is how the possibilities of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will affect the industry.
